wooow, thanks sfbg and niko kowell. this article is def 5 major steps back for the transmale community which is sad because the intention behind t4m is noble.
What is not noble though is opening the flood gates for chasers and fetishists by even letting those horrid “top 5 reasons to fuck a transman” go to print AGAIN
enjoying the bubble we created. good bad and ugly
It’s not about YOU. Just because you are a decent human being who doesn’t actively hate trans people does not absolve you from cis privilege. Being an ‘ally’ will not absolve you. You don’t want to be my ally since I called you out? Fine. Contrary to what you think, I don’t NEED you.
vizzz: when we’re talking about trans rights, it’s about so much more than “oh no, do the cis people want to sleep with us?” obviously, that’s a big part of being accepted and finding equality- when people realize that trans men are men, trans women are women ( FULL STOP and with no “if”s, “and”s, or “but”s)- but quite frankly, if you’re a cissexist asshole, trans people probably have no interest in sleeping with you anyway, because that’s a really good example of your shitty personality right off the bat. trans people have to worry about being able to find jobs to support themselves to survive. they have to worry about continually being misgendered and erased by society- and not just society, but sometimes their closest friends and family. and most of all, they have to worry about being killed, especially trans people of color. especially trans women of color. the fact that you have never had an altercation with a trans person, the fact that you personally have never physically harmed or killed a trans person, doesn’t remove the fact that you are cissexist, and does not merit reward. if someone who knows a good deal about gender issues calls you out on being cissexist, chances are that you are being cissexist. i just don’t understand why people who straight-up know nothing about gender stuff feel the need to post about it. cis straight people who have never knowingly interacted with a trans person in their life, posting all over the “trans” tags as if they’re an expert? honestly, like, i don’t know anything about astrophyics, so do you see me posting in the astrophysics tag debating with people who are actually knowledgeable on the subject? fuck no! if you admit to knowing nothing, and are still debating with people who do know what they’re talking about, maybe take a step back and try not doing that instead. revolutionary, i know. educating yourself is fantastic. try it, instead of willfully holding onto ignorance. it’s just so typical of people in a position of privilege (in this case, cis privilege) to want to dissuade any discussion of people who are oppressed and direct the conversation back onto themselves. “but what about the cis straight people? what about US?” i don’t know how much more clearly i can put it. if you don’t understand, educate yourself or come to someone who volunteers themselves to providing resources and information (i.e., me). but don’t attack, stalk, harass and degrade them because you’re frustrated with YOUR ignorance.

crashntumble: So I was all for this til I got to these bits 1. “obviously, that’s a big part of being accepted and finding equality- when people realize that trans men are men, trans women are women” & 2. “if you’re a cissexist asshole, trans people probably have no interest in sleeping with you anyway”
Now, folks here is an example of a cis ally majorly FUCKING UP, assuming they know things about trans people they clearly do not, and *gasp* being HELLA cis sexist!
1. Contrary to what this cis twit might be thinking I DONT want ACCEPTANCE or TOLERANCE from cis people nor do I care about fucking them for EQUALITY. I will get off with or without cis people.
2. i know maaaaany trans people who dont share my experience and DO fuck cis people for instance people like:
are theeeey above cis people too? there are a million options for trans people not all of which present themselves in your bs sexual dichotomy but of course you wouldnt fucking know that because you just assumed everyone thats cis sexist has a sign on their head or that no trans person could ever potentially fuck them.
- transsexuals who want to exclusively fuck cis people because they feel they should’ve been born cis
- two spirit individuals (actual two-spirits, not just liberal arts feminists who took a queer/women’s studies course and appropriated twospirit identity)
- people who dont believe in gender
- trans female sex workers
- trans fags / dykes
- people living stealth out of safety or convenience
- trans men who want to continue dating lesbians
- trans women married to cis women
- trans people who are desperate to feel connected to their body for once
- drunk one nighters
- club drug fucks
- “omg people finally notice me” fucks
- “i only get off when i’m beating the shit out of cis people” fucks
- pity fucks
- trans people on hormones who’re tired of their newfound sex drive [or lack there of] screwing with them
- people in small towns people who dont have a radical queer trans and gender variant dating pool to choose from

The Trans Youth Sexual Health booklet was produced by trans people aged 16-24 at Gendered Intelligence, in partnership with Terrence Higgins Trust. The project allowed young trans people to get together as a group and learn about sexual health, and also to discuss how to make sexual health information more relevant to trans people. As a result, a group of young people produced this information booklet, which is aimed at trans youth and their partners.

Answer:
i’m not really worried about being a “good singer” per se because even with the flimsy voice i have now i’ve got years of training/performing/jamming/shower singing etc. still locked into my brain and body. my biggest concern is actually having a fully formed/thickened set of female vocal chords and a incomplete/short set of male ones (something that affects any trans man who didnt have abnormally long chords pre-t or start transitioning before puberty) because it could lead to larynx damage and has already proven to be a major obstacle in terms of maintaining power, tone, and clarity.
i’ll keep it 100 i’m not a scientist or vocal expert but i’ve listened to as many trans male voices as i can find and from the limited number that youtube/tumblr have to offer i feel pretty ok saying that no matter how well trained or resonant a pre-t a voice was post-t it tends to be thinner, hoarse, and almost indistinguishable from other trans male voices (of course there are exceptions, your bf may in fact be one of them, lucky lil man if he is)
the truth about t and my voice is, whether i like it or not i’m at risk for vocal injuries because during this “2nd puberty” the changes in my larynx are not gradual but artificially accelerated which leaves myself and other trans men with a really high chance of vocal entrapment because we cant take the same vocal precautions a pubescent bio male can because testosterone intensifies cartilage ossification and builds a bony wall between our chords and true voices.
more than likely i will only be able to [attempt to] resume singing in 6-8 months when it is safer to begin relearning.
